My daughter sometimes inquires, what all of us may question at times, why God allows bad things to happen to good people. We have the usual conversation about faith, God giving humans free will, and the need for comparisons of both good and bad. All the basics, as parents, we try to break down for our children in an attempt to answer this type of question. My teenage daughter battled depression a couple years ago and has since then, made it her personal mission to help spread awareness of the symptoms, available treatments, and prevention of it for other kids across the country. She has become a spokesperson for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and has also started to blog about it in hopes to inspire others to take action.
She lives by an amazing quote that she wrote at the young age of 12; talking about how life is a story, God is the author, and that you are the main character. She says, God is writing in pen so there’s no going back and therefore you should live your life without regrets so that by the time it’s over, it will be a best seller. I love this so much as it is so true and a great reminder to embrace both the good and the bad in life.
So when her and I were chatting this morning and we were talking about the questions of life; as we often do, I took a moment to remind her and MYSELF even of this quote,
“Just as there are many plot twists and chapters to a great novel…a great life must have them too.”
Make it an amazing, best selling day; no matter what plot twist is thrown at you!!
